Authentication and Authoring.

Before you can author you must authenticate. To do so click the "cop" icon over the log.

This will open the authentication dialog. Enter your name and password and hit ENTER or click on the button.
The log will announce your authentication if it is successful.
Click the newly appearing "carpenter" icon above the log to launch the room editor.

The client room editor is laid out very similarly to the server room editor.
It allows you to create rooms, and to edit existing rooms or remove them from the server.
![]() | The first data area is where you enter a name for the room, designate a user password if you want users to have to enter a password to get into the room. Specify an ON ENTER sound, and a room script file. Designate a minimum access level for the room. |
|---|
![]() | Under that is where to add room props and configure the room to be a prop generator. The AVs may also be used within spots, or as an on arrival Avatar. To add up to 16 props to an AV, wear the props and click the arrow to disk icon. The Up and Down arrows allow you to cycle through the 32 available AV/Prop sets. |
|---|
![]() | Next we have the room image section. Enter the name of an 790x528 image to use as the room background. A copy of the room image here must be in the server's "smedia" sub folder. |
|---|
![]() | The next section is the room features configuration area. Here you can designate the room's available features, such as that the room is a gate etc. At present none of these are implemented yet. |
|---|
![]() | Next is the spot images and media edit section. you may specify up to 64 images and up to 64 sounds to associate with spot states. |
|---|
![]() | Next we have the label edit section and the URL edit section. Labels are locatable text they can have a URL# associated with them, which will be launched if they are clicked. You may have up to 64 Labels in a room. URLs can be a web url, or a room # (RM#2 for example will send the user to room #2) or an AV # (AV#3 for example). You can use RM:RoomName (ex: RM:Entrance) to go to a room by name. You may have up to 64 URLs in a room. |
|---|
Next is the Spot edit section. Spots can be of various "kinds":
![]() |
|
|---|
Local spot kinds will make changes locally only on the user's own client.
Global spot kinds will make the changes on the clients of all of the users in the room.
X and Y refer to the placement of the upper left corner of the spot.
Width and Height allow you to specify how wide and high you want the spot to be.
Outlines of spots with a width or height of 0 will not be shown in the room.
Spots have a "Z" order, spots with a Z of 0-127 will appear over the room image and behind users.
Spots with a Z of 128-255 will appear in front of users. The Z order will determine how one spot's image will overlap another as well. Spots with a Z order of 1 will be drawn in front of those with a Z order of 0.
Target refers to another spot, Value refers to what to set the other spot to when this spot is clicked.
Default refers to the value this spot will have for a new user when they enter the room.
Level refers to the user securitylevel which is required to see and use this spot (not implemented yet).
Click AV will don the AV# specified on a user when they click this spot.
URL means a url # to send the user to when they click this spot.
Don't move means the user will not move to this spot when they click on it.
![]() | The Spot State edit section allows you to specify an image, AV, and or media for each state. You may specify a URL # for this spot state to send the user to when the state is reached. Delta X and Delta Y are offsets for the image specified in this state. Target refers to a spot to change state of, and value refers to what state to set that target to. |
|---|
Next are the server room creation and deletion controls:

Upload File, New,Clear,Import, Export, Save.
UPLD FILE allows you to upload a file from your computer through the client to the server's smedia subfolder.
New creates a new copy of the room you are in at the end of the room list.
Clear clears the room editor.
Import allows you to load a room from your hard drive.
Export lets you save a room to your hard drive.
Test lets you see the effects of moving doors and labels. It does not reload the room completely.
Save saves the current room to the server.
Once you have edited the room and saved it you may wish to move it, this can be achieved using the command line commands of 'uplist and 'dnlist to move the room up or down the room list by one each time you type it.
